Fed: COAG moves to protect international students

State and territory leaders have turned their attention from health to education ..

agreeing to a raft of measures designed to protect international students.

Education Minister JULIA GILLARD says a national strategy linking overseas students
with their local communities has been developed .. and a committee set up to give them
a representative voice.

Education providers will have to use an independent body to adjudicate complaints ..

while taskforces will help ensure students are supported if their university shuts down.
