AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2000
IBT Technologies, an e-learning enabling company, recently inked a contract with Liebert Cassidy, a California employment and labor relations law firm, to reposition their library of management and employee training workshops to the Internet.
IBT will convert Liebert Cassidy's discrimination, harassment, disability, discipline and investigation content into media-rich Web delivered e-learning that will be distributed through IBT's Knowledge Gateway(tm) Standardized Learning Communities.
The first course is "Preventing Workplace Harassment" and it will be offered in a two-fold approach. The first is geared towards employees and includes sections on identifying and preventing workplace harassment. The second course is geared towards supervisors and covers the same material as the employee course, plus includes instruction on supervisors' duties and responsibilities regarding preventing and remedying workplace harassment.
Other pending courses include: FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
"We're thrilled to have the level of expertise and regulatory training that Liebert Cassidy brings to the market," says Deborah Kaufman, co-founder and president of IBT Technologies. "Companies are faced with continuous changes in the law, making their job of assuring compliance more difficult than ever before.
"The great thing about a partner like Liebert Cassidy is that they are committed to extraordinarily accurate content with the resources to continuously update the material. This level of commitment from a content provider is the level our clients want. With the frequent changes to the law it is imperative that new regulations, as well as explanations of their impact, are distributed as quickly as possible. The Internet is the best way to do this and we look forward to more legal experts turning to Web-based training as the prime vehicle for maintaining and transporting this type of information."
"We're very excited about the possibilities of online training," explains Melanie Poturica, managing partner at Liebert Cassidy. "The goal of all of our training workshops is to provide clients with current and relevant information they can use to help them avoid potential liability in employment law and personnel matters.
"It was important for us to find the right company to partner with when it came to creating online training programs that lived up to the high-standards we demand, and that our clients have come to expect. This is our first foray into Web-based training and we chose IBT because they offered the right combination of technology, distribution and support services -- all under one roof. Plus, IBT's software can accommodate updates quickly and easily, and in the ever-changing business of employment law, that's important," says Poturica.
The content of the courses in the second module include: Privacy in the Workplace, Violence in the Workplace, Use and Abuse of Absenteeism, Legal Mandates, Avoiding and Handling Grievances.
