NSW: Man barricades himself inside unit

A man who barricaded himself inside a western Sydney unit will undergo psychiatric
assessment after surrendering to police.

Police say the 59-year-old man surrendered at 5.20pm (AEDT) today after a six-hour
standoff at the unit on Bungarribie Road, in Blacktown.

He was unarmed and has since been taken to the Cumberland Psychiatric Unit for assessment.

The man, who was alone in the unit, had not harmed himself or anyone else.

But earlier he'd been threatening to harm himself.
