Vic: Cigarette posters banned

MELBOURNE, Jan 1 AAP - Posters of tropical white beaches and leather-clad cowboys willbe banned under Victoria's tough new tobacco laws introduced today.
The laws strictly limit point-of-sale tobacco advertising after research showed youngsmokers were heavily influenced by tobacco promotions and displays.
The new legislation restricts the size of tobacco product displays and bans posters,deskpads, stickers and back-lit signs in shops and on vending machines.
Outlets and machines are now limited to one small replica of each product line.
